501st Application submitted!

501st Application submitted!

It is now official! I’ve submitted to my application for 501st membership. My ANH (A New Hope) Tusken Raider has been completed. A big thanks to Todd Mulling, Detachment Leader for the Krayt Clan for all the help, and Lesley  Farquhar, San Diego Squad Leader for helping become a part of the ranks.
Now to wait for approval. I hope it gets here before the big events this month like the El Centro Air Show and Wonder-Con, which will have the biggest Tusken Invasion in Southern California.

Joining the Krayt Clan

Joining the Krayt Clan

Seems like my TK (Stormtrooper) is going to have to wait a bit. ATA Works has a 6 month waiting list on armor, so I have quite a bit of time. Since some really cool events are coming up like Wonder Con and the El Centro Air Show in March, I really want to get my 501st membership before then. So while I wait I’ve decided to build a Tusken Raider. With some help from the San Diego Squad and Krayt Clan detachment leader I will be trooping with a DZ for these events.
I just gathered all my supplies, minus the helmet, I should be starting the build soon. Pictures of my progress will follow.

The journey begins

The journey begins

I’ve officially started my quest to join the 501st Legion! Soon I will join the ranks of the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment or FISD and become an official member of the San Diego Squad under the Southern California Garrison.

For those who would like to learn more about what the 501st is about, check out the official 501st website.

I first saw the 501st at the San Diego Comic-Con around 2000-200i1, I remember seeing them march around the convention center, my first thought was “WOW!”. I couldn’t believe that there was such an organization like this around. I followed the troops until I was able to get the change to talk to them.
From there I was drawn to this costuming organization. I now have the resources to make this dream happen. And here is my quest. This will be a long project, but the end result will be amazing.

My first build.
